The practice of mindfulness invites us to pay wise attention to whatever experiences we are having in our lives. It involves bringing conscious and deliberate attention to whatever is happening for us from one moment to the next. As each moment unfolds it is met with a kindness, a curiosity and without judgement. The more mindful we are the more present we are to all our experiences whether pleasant or unpleasant.
Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment and non- judgementally
( Jon Kabat – Zinn)
Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We also gain immediate access to our powerful inner resources for insight, transformation and healing
(Jon Kabat – Zinn)
Of course all the talk and theory in the world does not make us mindful – in fact it can be a trap, a danger that we will confuse knowledge with practice, with presence, with being. So mindfulness is NOT about talk, about knowing things – even things about mindfulness and meditation, it is not something you get because you read it or someone told you about it or advised you, or you banked knowledge about it. It is only through the practice of mindfulness, that something comes to you, interiorly, existentially, personally, stealthily and THAT begins to shape you – it is the language of the heart.
The way to make peace is to be peace
(Thich Nhat Hanh)
